10 Shows of 2023

Welcome back, entertainment enthusiasts – hope you all enjoyed reading “10 Shows of 2022” and if you have not read it yet, you can do so here! That was just the beginning.

It is time to check out the next shows on my list for 2023! My greatest joy would be beating last year’s final score of ten shows, but I can settle for matching it. I am picking these shows based on the data in my previously mentioned, but not revealed, Unfinished Shows spreadsheet. I promise it is coming in all its wonderful, color-coded glory.

According to the spreadsheet’s tabulated completion levels, here are the “10 Shows of 2023” (as of 1/17/2023)

I know what you might be thinking (the same thing I originally thought probably): this does not appear challenging. Sounds like a fun pastime! Taking it a step further, however, I will break this list down by the number of hours each show will take.

If I stick with these ten, it is over 12 DAYS of viewing. Everyone, say “thank you, Google Sheets!” and place your bets on whether I can complete this for a second year in a row! (Take into consideration that I do not currently have a full-time job so this will be my entire life).

This list is not set in stone. Another method I could try is finishing the shows in order of which would take the least amount of time to complete. A different approach may be exactly what I need to beat last year’s score.

If I go by shortest completion time, here are the shows that will get me to my goal:

This list totals at 56.44 hours. The spreadsheet’s numbers tell no tales – this could be the way to go. Barring all outstanding obligations, I could realistically finish this project in less than two weeks based on the timing (except for Abbott Elementary which is still premiering weekly). But will I?

I am thinking also that monthly progress reports will be a trend for 2023 - y’all have to hold me accountable!

I already have predictions about the shows this year:

  • As we already knew, I will not like Emily in Paris, but I will continue watching these out of spite until they cancel it. And I am creating a play-by-play guide with ALL my unhinged thoughts!

  • A Different World will be my favorite show of the year. Everyone has so many delightful comments to say and anecdotes about this series and I am excited for the ending!

  • Suits will be a relief to finally complete – my mom, dad, brother, and I all started it at the same time, and they have all finished it. My dad has watched it twice now. So, I am now behind by seven years. Katherine Heigl and Dulé Hill, I am on my way!

  • I won’t enjoy watching the final episodes The Mindy Project (purely because my love for the Danny/Mindy relationship compilation videos on YouTube already spoiled it). The ending will make me emotional, and although I have had years to prepare, I will cry.

Sit back and relax, friends – whatever we watch, we are in for a ride! What shows are you watching this year?
